Description
From a lively scene of summertime crayfishing to quiet indoor settings for sewing and letter writing, Carl Larsson captures the peaceful joys of his household with his intimate works of art. Even the family dog naps without interruption in a sunlit drawing room. After Larsson and his family moved into their country cottage, Lilla Hyttnäs, he found artistic inspiration in visitors, relatives, and the house itself (for which his wife, artist Karin Bergöö, did much of the interior design). The idyllic image Larsson presents in his watercolors - particularly his series "A Home" - became widely popular, influencing Swedish art and design.
