Description
The crown jellyfish (Cephea cephea), also known as the cauliflower jellyfish, is found in the east Atlantic Ocean and Indo-Pacific region, as well as the Red Sea. Reaching a diameter of up to twenty-four inches, the crown jellyfish has a deep groove encircling the umbrella, providing its signature crown shape. It reproduces both sexually and asexually during its lifetime. Rising ocean temperatures, overfishing of jellyfish predators, increased nutrients flowing into the oceans, and ocean sprawl have led to large spikes in population, or jellyfish blooms, in the world's oceans.
