Billy Hassell's paintings are studies in stylized naturalism, rooted in a deep sense of place. An artist and conservationist since childhood, he roamed the creeks and uncultivated areas around Dallas and began his life's work by drawing the lizards and other creatures he carried home in his pockets. He remains fascinated by the nature that surrounds him and the feathered friends he makes on his adventures. Blending realism and abstraction with bold, saturated color, he captures and translates the magic of his vivid memories.
