Description
Amedeo Modigliani (Italian, 1884Ā1920) Redheaded Girl in Evening Dress (Jeune fille rousse en robe de soir), 1918 Amedeo Modigliani came to Paris in 1906 to work as a sculptor and painter, producing crisp, stylized pieces influenced by African carvings. A debauched lifestyle and early death from tuberculosis helped make Modigliani a legend, but it was his intimate portraits and the clean lines of his sculptures that made him one of the great artists of his day. This painting is from the extraordinary collection assembled by Dr. Albert C. Barnes, who established the Barnes Foundation in 1922 near Philadelphia. - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP £1.99
