Gregory L. Blackstock (American, b. 1946)
The Ravens, 2009
For Seattle artist Gregory L. Blackstock, who is autistic, the world is made up of countless things needing to be identified, ordered, and arrangedĀbe they animals, vegetables, or manmade objects. Creating art has become his outlet for defining an unpredictable world. Once he chooses a subject, he seeks to record all the variations within that group, to make the artwork "complete."
Blackstock began drawing regularly in his early forties. Since his first solo art show in 2004 at age fifty-eight, his list-like drawings have captivated art lovers worldwide. His work has been shown in Geneva, Paris, New York, Vienna, Philadelphia, Miami, and Seattle. The prestigious Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne, Switzerland, holds an impressive assortment of Blackstock's work in its permanent collection. - INDIVIDUAL ITEM RRP Ā£1.992
